Acne!! Ughh!! It’s the worst thing in the world, especially if you’re a young person looking forward to a date with someone attractive that you’ve just met. Nobody likes suffering from acne breakouts, but is there a cure for it?
Yes, there are certainly many ways to get rid of the acne and to ensure that you don’t suffer from an acne breakout again. But first, it is important to understand what causes acne in the first place.
What causes acne?
Acne is a rite of passage for most teens and young adults. In fact, 85% of teenagers suffer from some form of acne such as pimples. Acne breakouts occur because the body produces androgen in excess when you’re in your teens, leading to skin disruptions. So it is a hormonal issue.
Acne causes a clogging of the pores of the skin, leading to inflamed lesions. Genetics is the main cause of acne – if your parents had it as young adults, it’s likely that you’re going to have it too. Other factors include hormonal changes, stress, too much exposure to the sun, or difficulty in adjusting to seasonal changes.
It is rare for men to have acne once they hit their 20s, but women can suffer from pimples, blemishes, whiteheads, blackheads, skin cysts and other types of skin eruptions well beyond their teens because of overdosing on birth control pills, pregnancy and other reasons.
So what can you do about the acne breakout? How can you help it?
There are several ways to heal the acne and to prevent acne breakouts in the future. Let’s see what they are…
#1: Use Acne Face Wash.
You are probably using a plenty of acne treatments, creams and serums – but remember, if you don’t wash your face with acne face wash first, all of these treatments are essentially worthless. The right acne face wash can make all the difference to your acne treatment as it exfoliates the skin, unclogs the pores, eliminates the oil and clears the dead skin cells. Basically an acne skin wash unclogs the skin pores and gets them to breathe again, which prevents acne breakouts in the future. Use the face wash before and after applying other skincare products.
#2: Use a Moisturizer.
Use acne skin care products such as moisturizers to daily moisturize the skin and keep the acne away. This helps clear out the excess dirt, oil and makeup from the skin. The moisturizer should be applied after you have cleansed the face with an acne face wash. The best moisturizers contain ingredients such as benzoyl peroxide and prevent the drying and flaking of the skin.
#3: Don’t touch your face.
It is intuitive for people suffering from acne to touch their face often, trying to feel the acne. But this is the worst thing you could do as the oils and dirt from the fingers are transferred to the skin pores, which leaves you even more vulnerable to acne breakouts.
#4: Use acne friendly makeup.
Go easy on the makeup, as that is one of the biggest causes of acne. Even if you need to use makeup, buy products which are labeled as “non-comedogenic”, which means they don’t lead to acne breakouts.
#5: Follow healthy habits to eliminate stress.
Stress is one of the biggest causes of acne. So make sure to exercise, have healthy wholesome meals, get at least 7 or 8 hours of sleep and follow a regular routine so that you don’t get stressed. Also, you will do well to join a Yoga class and practice meditation – that will keep the stress away.
